Postgraduate Program

Master of Medical Education (MME) Germany

The Program

This program is designed to offer educators and leaders in academic medicine, who are responsible for planning and organizing medical studies, the opportunity to engage with modern educational theories and teaching methods directly from practice. Participants will be empowered to act as multipliers within their faculties, promoting new approaches to medical education, particularly in didactics, with competence and confidence.

The MME program aims to reach multipliers, especially at medical faculties and institutions for medical education in German-speaking countries ("train the trainer" concept).

Objectives

The MME program pursues the following goals:

  • Professionalization of medical education
  • Improvement of teaching quality
  • Qualification of educational trainers ("train the trainer") and multipliers, as well as leaders, particularly in academic medicine
  • Promotion of national and international scientific exchange
  • Advancement of educational research

Initiative of the Medizinischer Fakultätentag Deutschland (MFT)

The degree program is an initiative of the Medizinischer Fakultätentag Deutschland (MFT) and was supported by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and the Heinz Nixdorf Stiftung.

The Master of Medical Education (MME) program is a cross-institutional initiative. It was developed out of the need to further train professionals in medical education and research in medical training and was implemented in the winter semester of 2004/05.
