Offered since 2013, the elective module allows students to extend their knowledge beyond the mandatory courses by focusing on areas such as teaching and learning research or site-specific curricula. Faculties across Europe have been selected to highlight aspects of international medical education. Participation is open to all cohorts, promoting exchange and networking between students from different years.
The elective module addresses current topics in educational research, which are further developed within the "Community of Practice" throughout the year. MME-internal topics and developments are also discussed, actively involving students in the continuous improvement and quality assurance of the program.
In recent years, a faculty meeting for the MME program instructors has been held immediately after the elective module, allowing for direct integration of the module’s outcomes into the program curriculum.
